Teneligliptin 20 Mg Tablets : It is most recently developed anti-diabetic agent which is used to reduce blood sugar along with diet and lifestyle modification. It can also be used with other anti-diabetic agents like Pioglitazone, Metformin, Glimepiride. It is a schedule H drug and should not be consumed until prescribed by registered medical practitioner.
Uses of Teneligliptin 20 Mg Tablets:
1. It is used to reduce blood sugar levels in patients of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Dosage: Teneligliptin is available in tablet form. It is available as Teneligliptin 20 mg, Teneligliptin 20 mg + Metformin 500mg Sustained release and Teneligliptin 20 mg + metformin 1000 mg sustained release tablets.
Class- Dipeptidyl Dipeptidase 4 Inhibitor or also known as Gliptins.
Mechanism of Action: Teneligliptin is Dipeptidyl Dipeptidase-4 Inhibitor. It has additional advantage to protect from hypoglycaemia through unique glucagon mechanism.
Advantage of using Teneligliptin: Lower risk of hypoglycaemia and weight gain.
Is Teneligliptin safe to use in Pregnancy: Not recommended to be used in pregnant woman until it is very necessary.
Is Teneligliptin safe to use in breast feeding females: No it is not recommended.
Can Teneligliptin be used in Renal Patients: Yes Teneligliptin can be used in Mild, Moderate, Severe Renal failure Patients without dose adjustment.
Is Teneligliptin used in hepatic failure patients: Teneligliptin is considered to be safe in mild to moderate hepatic failure patients. But in cases of severe hepatic failure patients safety and efficacy has not been established.
Is Teneligliptin safe in heart failure patients: It should be used with caution and continuous watch on patients as its safety and efficacy in these patients has not been established
When Teneligliptin should not be used: If patient is known to have allergy with Teneligliptin then it should not be used.
Teneligliptin reduces glycated hemoglobin by 0.8% to 0.9% in span of 3 to 4 months.
