UZITEL -40 ( Telmisartan 40mg Tablets)
Telmisartan 40mg Tablets – Telmisartan and amlodipine combination is used to treat high blood pressure( Hypertension).
Mechanism of Action- Telmisartan
It is an Angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB).
It blocks the action of angiotensin
It acts by relaxing blood vessels thereby reducing the Blood pressure.
Uses Telmisartan 40 mg —
- Hypertension
- Prevention of Strokes by lowering Blood Pressure
- Prevention of Heart Attacks by lowering Blood Pressure
How to use Telmisartan
It may be taken before or after food
How long does it take to give full effect?
It takes about 4 weeks to give full effect.
Precautions —
Do not use it during pregnancy or if planning to get pregnant.
Side effects of Amlodipine
- Pedal edema- swelling in the ankle region.
Serious Side effects–
- Dizziness/Headache/Light Headed due to hypotension
- Fainting
- Hyperkalemia :
Muscle weakness due to Increased Potassium levels
Slow or Irregular heart beat
- Allergic reaction
- Weight gain

What are problems caused by High Blood Pressure :-
High blood pressure increase the workload of the heart because it has to pump blood against higher pressure so it increases the demand of oxygen of heart itself which can lead to Heart Failure.
As a result of high blood pressure if it continues for long time then heart and arteries may not function properly which may lead to high pressure in the arteries supplying brain and result in Stroke.
High BP may lead to Renal Failure.
What tests we should undergo if we have hypertension:
- ECG
- Renal Function test
- Lipid Profile
ECG is done to see the condition of the heart whether high blood pressure has put any effect on the hearts functioning or not.
Renal function test done to ascertain the condition of kidney.
Lipid Profile is done to check the level of Total cholesterol/HD/VLDL/LDL/Triglycerides
